PlateRover is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use our mobile application and related services.

Information we collect includes account information, meal data, photos you select for scanning, camera and barcode scan data, app usage data, crash reports, performance metrics, subscription status, and purchase history processed by third parties.

We use this information to provide food recognition and nutrition estimates, sync meal history, improve app performance, process subscriptions, provide support, and display relevant information or advertisements.

Third-party services may include Firebase, Google Gemini or Vertex AI, OpenFoodFacts, RevenueCat, and Google AdMob or Google Mobile Ads.

Data Retention and Deletion

PlateRover keeps account and nutrition data for as long as your account remains active or as long as needed to provide the app’s features. This may include your profile information, email address, food logs, meal history, nutrition targets, app settings, scan-credit status, and subscription or purchase status.

Food photos or images submitted for scanning are used to provide food recognition and nutrition estimates. PlateRover does not intentionally store scanned food photos in your long-term account history unless a feature clearly allows you to save that image or related meal information. The resulting meal or nutrition information may be stored in your food log if you save it.

Diagnostic data, crash logs, performance logs, security logs, and abuse-prevention records may be kept for a limited period as needed to maintain, secure, debug, and improve the app. These records are normally kept only as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes, unless a longer retention period is required for security, legal, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, compliance, or abuse-prevention reasons.

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data through the app or through our account deletion page. When you request deletion, PlateRover will delete or de-identify your account data, profile data, saved food logs, and related personal information within a reasonable period, unless retention is required for legal, security, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, compliance, or abuse-prevention purposes. Backup copies may remain for a limited time before being deleted through normal backup rotation.

If you stop using PlateRover without deleting your account, your account data may remain stored so your food logs, settings, and nutrition history are available if you return. You can request deletion at any time.
